SAINT-GOBAIN GLASS LAUNCHES MASSIVE ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN

Saint-Gobain Glass is launching a massive publicity campaign to promote the benefits of SGG PLANITHERM in domestic replacement windows to homeowners

The campaign, which is expected to last until 2013, is funded through CERT (Carbon Emissions Reduction Target) from Scottish and Southern Energy, who are part of a government mechanism for improving the energy efficiency of the existing housing stock and is a legal obligation on the six largest energy suppliers to achieve carbon dioxide emissions reductions from domestic buildings in England, Scotland and Wales.

As part of this campaign, Saint-Gobain has initially booked advertising slots on Sky TV, More4, ITV, and Radio TalkSport. The adverts will start in May, screening for two months, and are expected to generate a huge amount of interest in energy efficient glazing, and in particular SGG PLANITHERM.

Residential Market Manager Craig Dodsworth explained: “We fully expect this campaign to benefit the entire industry – not just those associated with Saint-Gobain Glass – as homeowners are encouraged to consider replacing their windows for energy efficient ones. Window fabricators, installers and associated suppliers of products such as profile, hardware, and spacer bars will be able to take advantage of the increased consumer awareness. Not to mention the environmental benefits of reducing the total amount of CO2 being emitted.”

In addition, Saint-Gobain Glass has established the Planitherm Installer Network in a bid to actively involve installers in Saint-Gobain Glass’s marketing message, convey the importance of choosing the right glass when choosing windows and give installers the opportunity to learn about new sales opportunities in a difficult market.

In return, Planitherm installers will benefit from the activities and interest generated by Saint-Gobain’s extensive consumer advertising campaigns, to be launched in Spring 2011, in addition to receiving a comprehensive sales support kit and product and marketing support.

Fabricators are also set to receive considerable support from the glass company, which includes a free listing in the private Installer Network members’ area on www.planitherm-network.com, and help and advice with Window Energy Ratings and general technical advice. Fabricators can become a PLANITHERM Fabricator by simply pledging to use PLANITHERM as their preferred energy efficient glass product.

“We are all very excited at Saint-Gobain Glass,” Craig remarks. “Most of us in the glass and glazing industry have been aware of the environmental benefits of energy efficient windows for several years, and we have now been given the opportunity to comprehensively relay this message to the window-buying public. We are very confident that the whole industry should benefit as a result!”
